What you can learn from distancing to your parents.
I still know exactly how free and unshakable I felt back in those childhood days, sitting on my swing in our garden and imagining to be a superhero.
In summer 2002, I was only 7 years old, and “Spiderman” with Tobey Maguire in the leading role, was my very first movie I had ever watched in a cinema. I’ll probably never forget that. When I came out of this movie, it was almost like I knew that one day I was going to become my own superhero and do something unique and special in my life. As every other boy probably, I dreamed of getting the girl of my dreams, my personal “Marie-Jane”, marry her, and do a lot of superhero things.
As I grew older a lot of things happened in my life, positive and negative. Birthday partys, Mobbing in school. Friendships and losing friends. Great health and injuries. I am so glad that today I can at least reflect, why I focussed mostly on the negative situations for a long time and built the belief, that this is what the world’s meant to be like. And this included a lot of situations with my parents. I’m not gonna focus on the exact details and situations, but I’ll try to give you a good overview how I became a more confident person and…
